Robin Anders has worked with hand drummers from around the world, including the
Sufi master Adnan Sarhan. Robin's mastery of various musical styles is evident in his recordings and
performances with such diverse artists as Boiled in Lead, 3 Mustaphas 3 and Greg Brown.
Robin Adnan Anders exposes the cosmic powers of hand drums and percussion in this amalgam of Sufi,
Middle-Eastern and Asian music. The 90-plus minutes of pulsating drum sounds and rhythms
employ a wide range of authentic instruments, such as the Syrian Dourbakee and Macedonian tupan.

VOICES of the DOUMBEK
Since the release of our landmark hand drumming videos by
Glen Velez and John Bergamo, a doumbek video has been one
of the most requested videos. We are delighted to answer these
requests with this captivating video by Robin Adnan Anders.
Long a vital part of Middle Eastern and Central Asian music,
this ancient family of drums is now finding an ever growing
place in contemporary music, from folk and jazz to rock.
This video offers a series of physical and mental exercises
that properly prepare one's mind, body and soul for playing
the drum. A wide variety of strokes and techniques are carefully
explained and demonstrated. Traditional rhythmic patterns
as well as possible personal and modern variations are
explored in depth. Several extended demonstrations and solo
performances are featured elements of this comprehensive
and in-depth approach to playing the doumbek.
